Glenn D Cunningham
A brief synopsis of our former mayor's political life.
Glenn D Cunningham was born on September 16, 1945, and died of cardiovascular disease on May 25, 2004. Glenn D Cunningham was the mayor of Jersey City. The mayor was born and died in Jersey City, New Jersey. He won the 2001 mayoral election. He was part of the Democratic party and also served in the New Jersey Senate. Not only that he was the first African American mayor of Jersey City which paved the way for other African American political leaders. His term started from July 1, 2001, and ended tragically on May 25, 2004. After his death, Judge Jerramiah T. Healy was elected to fill his remaining term. Then Joseph Doria was elected to fill his Senate vacancy.

My thoughts on Glenn D. Cunningham
Glenn D Cunningham was one of the former mayors of Jersey City. He was an incredible man who was brave enough to do many different things. Not only was he the first African American mayor of Jersey City he accomplished and done good deeds. Before becoming a politician he was a police officer. He was also appointed as a US marshal in 1996. He helped out others when they needed it, like the 9/11. Glenn D Cunningham took in people who needed help from across the border. Our city was the core helper supplying needed materials during Ground Zero. To me, he is incredible and inspiring. He in his own way accomplished many things and showed in a sense to do good deeds. It's a shame that most of us couldn't witness that.
